Sometimes babies take a looong time to burp... Tips to burp: place baby in such a position so that his stomach is pressed against your shoulder. pat baby upwards, from small of the back to shoulder a few times, then rub gently downwards. Continue this for sometime. If baby fails to burp, place him face down on your thighs, supporting neck from below with one hand and pat upwards, rub downwards. Alternate shoulder and thigh till baby burps. Its extremely important that the baby burps, otherwise there will be spit ups and gas problems. Hi Shyama. What used to work for me is feeding from one breast for 5mins.. then burping and then the other breast for 5 mins.. Till 5 weeks babies are still getting a hold on breastfeeding so it does happen.. Also read up on this thing called Reflux babies if this persists beyond 5 weeks.. Till then keep the feeds short and try to feed him 80% of the feed rather than 100%

I have faced the same problem even worser,he will spit n nose also. don't worry about it pa.feed ur baby in 1 breast for 15 minutes in 1 time and don't give for 2 hrs,for the next time give n another side. unless ur baby burp dnt let her down. all these r suggestions from my doctor for me pls try to follow. sometimes it will take more than half an hour for my baby to burp. but now he is normal dnt worry.

burp him in between feeds. .... Hold him in upright position for at least 10 mins....
