It is best to allow baby to develop on his own. You can prop the baby up using pillows for sitting as long as baby is comfortable. Rockers and strollers with the right back support and angle are also ok. Banana does not cause a cold and cough. Make sure you wash your hands frequently. Also baby can catch infection from putting things in the mouth so sterilise or clean all objects handled by the baby well.
