There are two umbilical arteries and one vein in the umbilical cord. The umbilical cord is the transportation link between the mother and fetus for all <u>the</u> nutrition that the fetus needs. A single umbilical artery can be associated with other fetal anomalies. However in your case the anomaly scan doesn't show any associated anomalies. Hence the&nbsp; thing you now need to check on is the fetal growth and wt gain. Also it will be a good idea to get a fetal echo done at about 24weeks. Not all the fetuses with a single umbilical artery will lag in growth. However you need to met your doctor to plan out the exact further course.
