Dr Payal

I was a primi breech- first pregnancy with breech baby. was asked to do some exercises but nothing changed. delivered by cesarean, baby also had two loops of cord around neck. vaginal delivery is not an option. there were certain manoeuvres practiced by gynecs in the old times to turn the baby (ecv) but not done anymore.

For a first time mom if the baby is in a breech presentation the doctor will suggest a surgical birth. Once the mouth of the uterus starts opening in labor the legs or the buttocks can slip out along with the umbilical cord. This can create a risk situation as the doctor has a very short time to deliver the baby. The procedure to turn a baby manually is called external version but it is not prescribed by many doctors as there are risks associated with it. Relax and keep yourself positive. The ultimate goal is a happy and healthy baby.

Hi Uma, please don't worry. There still is time. Have an open talk with your gynecologist. Are you attending prenatal classes?
