Hi experts... My baby is 4 mths.old now. But, weight is only 3.5 kgs... Since mother's milk isn't sufficient, my baby is fully on formula milk. One of my close relations have a boy baby. Both these babies have a difference of just 2 mths... But, that boy is quite fat & I also feel his weight is accurate for his age... His mother has sufficient mother's milk, I heard... 1. What can be done for weight gain? 2. What should be the correct weight at this age? 3. Are there any ways to increase the secretion of mother's milk at this stage (I.e. in the course of 4th mth.)? 4. Can I start introducing solid foods from now for the weight gain? 5. Does underweight has any relation to genes, heredity, DNA, etc.? 6. If not related to heredity, does it mean my child isn't getting optimum nutrition?

Hi.. first of all don't compare ur baby with others... every baby is an individual....the more u feed, more u will make milk... by 6 months, many babies have doubled their birth weight.... babies should be breastfed exclusively for 6months....no solids..most solids foods have fewer calories and nutrients than breastmilk....learn baby massage.. this will improve digestion n weight gain... have lots of fluids.... to increase breast milk have oatmeal, fennel seeds, milk, unripe papayas, spinach, carrot n beetroots, garlic ,barley.... take iron n calcium supplements....
