question
Hi
I am 38 weeks pregnant..with gestational diabetes n hypertension..both things under control..now my doc wants me to wait till 39th week for natural labor..or else; she will induce me..

Now my question is ...how is induction preformed? Is it possible thru IV and not vaginaly?is it safe? What is the average time gap between induction n delivery?
Thanks

Hi Geetika,
I suffered from both hypertension in my case. Doctor suggested to wait till 38 weeks only. He said he will not wait much for natural birth as during uterine contractions BP might shoot and this will be not good for mother and child as well. So coming to the labor induction, doctor will apply gel on Cervix for dilation of the same. He will wait till 8-10 hrs so observe the cervix diameter. If it is expanded good enough then doctor will inject Oxytocin through IV, which will actually induce the labor.

; Hi
Induction can be done via IV as well as vaginally. I was first induced then taken for emergency c section due to few issues. Your doctor will be the best person to advise. Talk to your gynecologist

That's right.. I was induced through drip.. . I was induced coz I had started getting contractions but they weren't progressing well... Just stay calm and strong.. Everything will sail smoothly and keep on practicing your breathing exercises they'll be useful during Labour.. Stay fit and active right till the end
