question
Hi - I am 6 weeks 6 days pregnant per the USG - transvaginal - the doctor saw the gestational sac at 1.7 cm and yolk sac but no fetal pole. Should I be worried? Also, what's the difference between gestational period by LMP versus USG?

Hi, don't worry. Same had happened with me too, sometimes the fetal pole will take a bit longer to appear. You will be advised for a repeat scan at around 8 weeks, when you should be able to hear the heartbeat of the baby too. 6 weeks is very early.<br> Gestational period by lmp is 40 weeks from your last periods date, and by USG it will depend on the baby's actual growth. As the pregnancy progresses, and you will have scans like anomaly scan or growth scan, doctors will be able to check the growth of the baby by ultrasound and give you Edd by USG. Both the dates would be approximate though, the baby will come when it's ready to come. I delivered my first one in exactly 39 weeks, which was my date given by USG. All the best
