Hi. I have a bmi of 35 and currently 8 weeks pregnant. Doctor has advised me to be careful about pregnancy weight gain. I am feeling very worried as I feel hungry but I am scared to eat anything as I fear I might gain excess weight. Pls advise

You only need to maintain your weight & do not have to focus on reducing it during pregnancy. Please eat healthy. Stopping yourself from eating junk food is fine (and probably good), but do not skip meals or try to eat too less. In the 1st trimester, you need to eat as you normally would: approx 1200 to 1600cal per day. Second trimester onwards, you must consume about 1500 to 1800/2000cal per day. Make sure you also exercise enough. Walking is best. If you haven't been active already, start with 10-15 min walk per day & gradually increase up to 20-30min per day. Your meals should be balanced & include enough, protein, veggies & fruits. Occasional snacks/foods owing to cravings are fine too. You can use the below linked weight tracker (on a weekly basis) to stay within recommended weight gain. Try not to watch your weight every single day as it will add to stress.
https://www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html I'm sharing all the above information from experience as I'm in the same boat as you (my BMI was 31 at the beginning of my pregnancy). Don't worry too much about weight gain during your pregnancy, as any diets & over-exercising will not be good for the baby. Overall weight gain according to my gyn is between 9 to 11kgs for BMI >30. I believe your doctor will also keep a monthly track of your weight gain & advise accordingly.
So just relax and enjoy your pregnancy. ❤️

Please don't Starve Yourself during pregnancy. You can definitely eat healthy food which are low in carbs and yet healthy.
You can have brown rice, Replace normal aata roti with Bajra or Jowar Roti.
You can have Makhana for snacks, Replace Potatoes with other vegetables. Increase intake of Salad youcan anytime make according to your taste
