Hi Mommies! My daughter is of 16 months and is suffering from viral fever as after consultation with Paediatrician came to know about the same. Doc suggested to monitor for 2 days and prescribed to give her Calpol and Meftal P if temperature rises beyond 101F. Accordingly we are giving her medicines. Somehow I have noticed in the morning the day when she started suffering from fever a sudden redness visible in her hand. There was little bit swelling. This pic is of yesterday morning. Now redness has reduced as well as no swelling. Before temperature arises she starts shivering and then temperature shoots.Last time I have checked temperature while she was shivering it was 98F. My question is when I feel the temperature before shivering can I give her sponge bath and is it a rash or insect bite that's visible in the pic,if any chance of this related to fever? Please help me.

When you feel the fever is rising you can give a sponge bath with tepid water. Keep a wet cloth on her forehead and also on the back of her neck to help reduce the fever. Do report the rash to the doctor as some viral infections do cause a rash. Additionally maintain a log of the temperature, timings and readings. The doctor will be able to ascertain if additional tests are needed. Serve her plenty of liquids as this will keep her well hydrated.
