Hi moms... I did a random blood sugar test today....Its 94 seems normal as per the range mentioned on the report but my Doctor says that it's slightly on the higher side... there could be a risk for diabetes. Hence just wanted to reconfirm. Thanx

glucose tolerance test is performed at end of 5 th month or around 24 week, random test doesnot conclude anything . things important to understand are - do you had gestational diabetes in your previous pregnency if it's your second, then there is high risk, is there anyone in your family sp3cially mom who had diabetes type a or b , then there is chance, are you above 30 years of age, if yes then there is likely a chance, or just it's your own body sometimes with which you can get diabetes during pregnancy when body fails to generate insulin ..since you have already a doubt what u can do is eat sugar and high glucose fruits in moderation , and take healthy diet. important of all don't take stress it hits u , at any stage of pregnency , do discuss every doubt with doctor , and if you get diabetes in pregnency despite all control , don't worry it can be regulated closely thru your efficient health care team. all the best , this is with my own experience of gestation diabetes :} random checking of glucose should be avoided.

there's always a risk of gestational diabetes during pregnancy so keep the sugar content in your diet low.
