This is completely normal t this age. Make sure u keep the surroundings clean. You also can give him a rattle, a teether and stuff. Clean them too with plain water and dry well. But do ensure u also take his thumb outta the mouth so that he doesnt depend on that as a pacifier.

Babies do this to soothe themselves and sometimes even sleep..just try and maintain hand hygeine like every few hours clean babies hand with a wipe it even cloth dipped in warm water..also yes some babies start teething at this stage
