hi my preemie baby corrected age 4 month has not yet got head control while placed in sitting position , when taken in shoulders he lifts his head, in tummy time also he controls head, but in sitting position it's poor, other development milestones he has reached, he is able to turn side by side and some times rollover, due to poor head control his posture is also not proper , can any one suggest what should we do. we have shown to doctor and he has adviced physiotherapy exercises that we are doing..is there anything else we need to take care. I am worried and I want to reach him all development milestones in time and correct guidance for early intervention where ever required .please advice

hi aradhana, you can read a post about milestones on my page. anyways, no matter how much we push, baby will do things only on his time. Besides, reaching milestones on a particular time does not mean anything in relation to baby's future. Since baby is able to hold head up at other times, means he is gaining control, but till he gets full control, he will not be able to roll over properly. Keep doing the exercises and keep encouraging the baby... Put toys at a range that encourages baby to move, but once in a while do let him grab the toy so that he does not lose motivation..

relax aradhana. ur baby will do things in his own time. n head control is something that your baby will start having after maybe 5 months or so. if there is no issue in other developmental milestones then don't worry. doctor is crazy to b suggesting physiotherapy. my baby started having head control only after 5 -5 and half months. so pls don't do anything that might just alter things. nature has its way n ur baby will do things at his or her own pace. just give ur baby enough space to explore. don't worry.

Don't worry.. some will learn things lately and some will get control lately. As suggested by doctor..continue doing...and a good massage also helps.
