question
Hi,
My wife is into 19th week of her pregnancy now. As she was diabetic when she conceived, we were warned about possible complications and put on insulin right from 7th week. She also followed a strict diet. Fortunately her sugar levels are under control for last few weeks now and there is just an occasional spike (150-160) which I am told is OK. We just had anamoly scan 2 days ago and everything is positive :)
My wife was weighing about 59kgs when she conceived and has put on nearly 2kgs in the last 4 months. Her OBG has asked her try to put on little more healthy weight. Any advises on how she can put on healthy weight without compromising too much on her diet and keeping a check on sugar levels too.
Thanks

Wooww the control in sugar is really good news.. it's a tough task to control it...<br> With regards to healthy weight gain u can include more protiens in diet like if u eat eggs it's good if not then mamas protinex is good. Have small meals every 2 to 3 hours. In milk she can consume skimmed one. Yogurt along with fruits n chia n flax seeds is again good option.. pulses is the best and healthy snack to include. Try using less of oil rather use homemade ghee.

Congratulations! Such control over diet is really commendable. Keep eating healthy diet as u are eating already. The weight will catch on towards the end. Moderate use of Homemade ghee procured from pure cow's milk helps to slowly raise the blood sugar and maintain it at an healthy level. And also u can replace sugar with jaggery wherever possible. Dry fruits. Fruits milk lean meat green leafy vegetable, peanut chutneys. Peanut laddos

She can have boiled potatoes. Stuffed paranthas with less oil and fibre rich fruits and veggies. Sprouted moong and gram with cucumber, &#127813; ,fruits as well and make a chaat out of it. she will love that evening healthy snack. Brown rice she can have and if she wants white rice then boil it in large amount of water and drain it. Do the same process twice and starch will get removed upto some extent.
