Hi,
Our baby is 1.5 years old and has not yet weaned. We are in Mumbai and I thought of donating some milk earlier but the following doubts came up:
1. I do not want to breast feed another baby but just donate to avoid any emotional attachment
2. I do not want to be a regular donor with daily commitment but rather donate at my convenience; may be once in a week or so whatever suits my time. Is that possible or there has to be a commitment of regular donation?
3. The only milk bank we came across is in Sion Hospital. From the pictures available on net it seemed only new mothers still admitted in the hospital donate. Is it possible for an outsider to donate? Also from the photos we saw on the net there seemed to be lack of privacy and all donors are milked in one room. One of my friends told me usually the nurses operate the pumps but at times trainee male doctors also do the extraction. That has really put me off. Can anyone guide on this?
4. Instead of donating at the bank can I extract at home and hand over the milk to the bank?
5. We came across multiple photos of ladies donating milk at the banks. Where the photos taken with permission?
If anyone here has donated milk at a bank, please guide me and share your experience.
This is my last try and I have almost given up the idea.

Im in Mumbai. From the links you shared, it seems milk bank is not a good idea. Better donate to someone if there is a need
