hi this is Archana my baby will turn two months old on Dec 23rd but yet his belly button has not yet got cured. could you please tell me the reason, I have been to the pediatrician as well but she says for certain children it remains uncured for even a year, it may be due to umbilical hernia.

my son had a small umbilical hernia. it went away on its own. As the abdominal muscles strengthen over time , the defect will close. don't worry about it.

An umbilical hernia is an abnormal bulge that can be seen or felt at the umbilicus (belly button). This hernia develops when a portion of the lining of the abdomen, part of the intestine, and / or fluid from the abdomen, comes through the muscle of the abdominal wall.
Umbilical hernias are common, occurring in 10 percent to 20 percent of all children.
It is important that you ensure that there is no bleeding, pus or foul odour which could signify an infection.
Most umbilical hernia will heal on their own with no intervention needed.

Frankly I feel u shudnt worry... My younger daughter's umbilical cord got dried at around 4 months... And my doctor too said there is nothing to worry about that...
However, if u r still inquisitive, u should check wd anodr pediatrician too
