Babies have a reverse sleep pattern in the womb and many babies will continue this even in the first few weeks post delivery. Keep his day time bright and noisy, allow normal sounds and light, awaken him to feed frequently. At night keep the room dark. If you need light to change him use a small night light. Do not interact and he will learn that night is for sleep and not play. You may want to use a diaper at night, set a bed time routine like a gentle massage, warm bath, changing clothes etc. Always have him sleep in his crib as he will identify that as a place to sleep.

Dear Akshata, a baby this small won't sleep in the night for long, and mostly sleep during daytime. My lo also did the same thing.. now she can sleep well for 4-5 hrs at night and wakes up for feed once or twice depending on when she slept... I can just say that it gets better. try n get rest when the baby sleeps during the day, and dim the lights at night n make feeding tym absolutely quiet so that baby gets the hint that night is to sleep.. interact with him throughout the day but not at night.. develop good sleeping habits and it should be good.. all the best :)

babies have irregular sleep pattern for first three months, they do not differentiate between night and day... you should try to sleep when the baby sleeps, do try to get someone to help with the household chores and the baby...
