How do all of you read to your children? While I have a lot of age appropriate books for my daughter, she is 4, I also try and read books to her that may be for slightly older children. I do not read and explain..I just go on reading and let her imagine what the context may be...

Dear Priya, You have some great suggestions here so I will not repeat those, but I will say make reading an engaging, lively and fun process for your daughter. Talk a lot through out, commenting on emotions, events, new words and concepts etc and ask questions or have discussions as you move along. This will make reading fun and engaging for your daughter, both of which are needed to encourage her to become a lifelong reader! Hope this helps.

My twins are 3years and I started reading to them from the time they turned 8months as me and my husband are not readers..
I read the story and translate it into our mother tongue as and when required and make faces, expressions so that they grasp it easily..
If we are reading something during day time we even do art and craft related to it...
Thank you so much @63713f4617d2c800158d383d for the tag
