How often do you come across single parents? My latest parenting article published on today's Bengali newspaper Eisamay is about the brave hearts who single handedly bring up their kids without the support of the spouse.
Single parenting can be due to various reasons like death of a partner, divorce or long distance. It is not only difficult but the task of parenting becomes even more challenging for such parents. It takes a lot of courage and effort to be a single parent and their job is mostly not appreciated because to many they are not doing anything out of the box.
The society is yet to accept single parents and that is what my article is all about. The pressure is double but then it is my request to single parents that do not compromise on your identity. If you are a single father you don't have to be the mother as well and vice versa because if you are doing the job honestly there is no reason to feel guilty. Your kids will love and respect you for what you are and not for what you want to become for the sake of it.
