Hypnobirthing helps a woman to deal with any fear or anxiety related to the birthing process. It includes relaxation techniques and self-hypnosis techniques to help relax the body before and during labor and birth. It is actually done to relax the body and mind so that the birthing process becomes more comfortable. This is the way to withstand the body in the process. I came across this process by the end of the third trimester, and I couldn't follow it entirely, but I did follow some of the steps which helped me withstand 15 hours of labor. 1. Keep calm throughout the process, never panic, play positive affirmations, and know your body is made by God to do this. Never doubt your body. 2. Keep the birthing environment soothing. It includes dim lights, only loving people around, no noises, and most importantly, keeps your husband/mother along to comfort you. Don't crowd the birthing room. 3. When contractions are going on, play soothing music, and focus on music and affirmations. Don't focus on the pain. It's mostly the fear of pain that makes it worse. I helped myself with the pain by reciting Chaupai Sahib (Sikh prayer) during and after each pain interval. 4. Breath. Normal deep breathing is the key. I didn't follow any scientific breathing method just went on with normal deep breathing to keep my body calm. Note- You must talk to your gynecologist and hospital people before you decide to do this. They must be in coordination with the plan. Start reading and practicing positive affirmations from 3rd month to practice hypnobirthing. But it's never too late to read, even if you are in the last trimester. Tag a mom-to-be or share it with her to make her delivery easier, less painful, and shorter. Follow me to know more about things I wish I knew during pregnancy.
