I just want to share something which I strongly believe in. When we fall ill, we should trust our body's natural ability to heal more than a doctor or those medicines. Whenever my daughter has fever or cold/cough, I never given her medicines in the last 2 years, even when she has high temperature. In fact, we don't even have a thermometer at home. Here's why I do it & how I help her heal: 1. We boil water to kill germs. Our body increases temperature to kill germs too. Fever is actually a good sign that our body's defence system at work. In fact, it is intelligent enough to decide the temperature it must increase it's thermostat to (based on the temperature at which the germs get killed). 2. Any such symptom is a signal that the body is giving us that it wants rest and cleaning. There's a reason why we don't have appetite during fever. the body doesn't want to process any good or divert energy to the digestive system. it brings forth all its might to kill the germ. 3. the human genetic blueprint determines that we eat raw fruits and vegetables. (designed by nature). Fruits are foods that are pre-digested and get absorbed by the body the fastest. So I give her fruits, raw vegetable juices and dry fruits(not nuts) all through the day. It just offers the right energy and fluid levels. If she doesn't want to eat at all, I don't force. 4. Suppression of any signal such as fever is like switching off the red light instead of observing it. If there are flies on a heap of dirt, we remove the dirt instead of shooing away the flies, don't we? Similarly raw fruits and vegetable juices helps clean the system, energize the process of repair and regeneration and also places minimum pressure on the digestive system. Any morsel of cooked food is hard to digest, is lower in nutrition and doesn't help clean.

5. I also calm her nervous system by applying rose water on the soles of her palm and feet, playing music, dimming the lights and just being with her! That helps her sleep better.
This method and belief comes from the concepts of natural hygiene. (as I learnt from Dr Vijaya Venkat) But this has turned my life around and has given me so much more confidence on our bodies!
