I m planning to start giving solids to my 5.5 months lo.Regarding that i have some doubts plz clarify
1. i will be starting with rice n daal water. so it shud be how many spoons and how many times a day initially and thereafter.
2. Can i give mineral water like bisleri instead of boiled RO water as it is more hassle free.
3 . intially how much water can be given daily.
4 . When can i start giving mashed fruits to my lo.

The answer seems very complete except that please do not give rice and salad water. These are low calorie foods and not recommended as weaning foods.

hi gauri, if by 5.5 your baby show all symptoms of getting ready for weaning -like he takes out saliva from mouth when he see any body eating , and shows keen interest on food if some one is eating his plate, as to sit supported aur unsupported , if ths symptoms are there you can start weaning or its always better to wait to 6 months. now on your questions . at first u need to give him only one food at one day , two or three spoons only ,1 the spoon is equal too 15 ml, n3ext day give the same food two or three spoons two times a day, try to finish off all feed within 4 pm . Test for three days if baby is not showing any sign of allergy and indigestion, rashes go ahead for that food in future. u have asked for dal ka pani and chaw ka..I suggest please don't give water of cereals rather mash dal a little and give thin dal soup.rice water cam be completely avoided, as it contains empty calories that doesn't have any nutrition and babys tummy fill and 3scape from getting it from milk. it's always better to start with veggies n fruits as soon as you are near 6 months , start with less allergic and suitable fruits n veggies , sweet potatoes , carrot,apple,peer,banana ...theb start with cereals brown rice kheer, mong dal soup, u can introduce ragi porridge also but before that ask your doctor. avoid wheat realt3d cereals. fruits and veggies are b3st for first month,they are great to start initially,steam them and puree it and give. increase the quantity of food day by day ,as per babys acceptance , starting from 15 ml u will see by end of week u will reach 90 ml at each time.at 6 months it's fine to feed baby 2 times in a day (see babys acceptance and feed) never force baby to eat. always try to attract baby by making her smell and see the food your offering it increases there understanding of food. give boil water only boil water ,cool it and give to your baby, no bakery water please. there is no limit to water check babys accept3nve  and give .initially give in morning and afternoon time and keep offering spoons after food or after play. read all <u>articles</u> kf baby chakra of weaning it will help too.<font color ="#3b5998"><b><a href="http://app.babychakra.com/article/99">Weaning</a></b></font><font color ="#3b5998"><b><a href="http://app.babychakra.com/article/99"> Foods for Indian Mums: </a></b></font><font color ="#3b5998"><b><a href="http://app.babychakra.com/article/99">Khyati's</a></b></font><font color ="#3b5998"><b><a href="http://app.babychakra.com/article/99"> Checklist</a></b></font> .
