hi dear, <font color ="#3b5998"><b> @636df5bb3f31520016a58177 </b></font><font color ="#3b5998"><b></b></font><font color ="#3b5998"><b></b></font> ma'm has explained in detail everything... now when elders say we are fine, its true, we are fine. not necessary that all honey should cause botulism, but some honey can... also not necessary water should cause problems, but in some case it can... what if we survived by luck... we don't know if any kid in our time did suffer from botulism, do we? so its better to be safe and listen to your doc's advise.... till 6 months, babies have less antibodies and are more vulnerable to diseases... hence breastmilk is advised as it contains all the nutrition required and also provides immunity...

hi anon <font color ="#3b5998"><b> @636df5bb3f31520016a58177 </b></font> has explained everything so perfectly to u! its not just nowadays doctors advise all this, my daughter is almost 10 yrs old and i exclusively breastfed her for the first 6 mnths. no salt, sugar or honey till she became a yr old. i hv never given her gripe water. every mother here will tell u its better to listen to ur dr :) thnx for asking this question - many new moms face this issue.

Honey causes botulism which is a blood related infection and if given to a baby under one year of age can cause a fatal reaction.<br> Some brands of gripe water container alcohol and hence should be avoided.<br> Water can cause an infection and can also disturb the feeding pattern leading to the baby not taking as much breast milk.<br> The use of bottle can cause nipple confusion leading baby to reject the breast.<br> Etc.
