hi, during my labor pains, it became intolerable after 8 hours, then I went for epidural.. it helped me going through my next 8 hours without feeling pain and my delivery was normal.. it was so much helpful and I would suggest every one should opt for this.. I did not face any issue but yes as Sonali said, please go through the detailed articles or consult your doctors in detail before going for any thing sensitive.. we attended the session on epidural conducted by my hospital staff and it really was helpful..

There are two main options for pain relief during labor - epidural which is given in the lower back. It numbs the nerves and hence does not pass pain sensations to the brain. Labor progresses naturally but mom does not perceive the pain. It is relatively safe for mom and baby and is used for most lower body surgeries. Hi. If you are referring to epidural then as per my gynaecologist it is safe for both. It is applied to the spine. Please do try not to worry about pain. God gives us the ability to handle it
