question
I was told that once the baby feeds,  I must put him to sleep sideways (after burping)  .  he doesn't always burp but does start hicupping now and then. he falls asleep soon after.  is this normal?  also how long am I supposed to make him sleep on his side?

Burp sound is not important. Just holding the baby in an upright position for three to five minutes is enough. The best position for baby to sleep in is on the back. However if the baby has reflux then the doctor will advise sleeping on the side for a short time after a feed. Hiccups just mean the stomach is full and the baby needs a burp. It's normal.

hi sumira u shouldn't put baby to sleep sideways. babies should always be put to sleep on their back. as its the safest position for them. hiccups are normal.
