Hello,
If you have gestational diabetes, your baby may be at increased risk of excessive birth weight- Extra glucose in your bloodstream crosses the placenta, which triggers your baby's pancreas to make extra insulin. This can cause your baby to grow too large... mother's high blood sugar may increase her risk of early labor and delivering her baby before its due date- pre term birth sometimes causes respiratory distress too... Sometimes babies of mothers with gestational diabetes develop low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) shortly after birth because their own insulin production is high...
In later stages of life, Babies have a higher risk of developing obesity and type 2 diabetes ( in late 30's)... So, its not an issue now...

it will not pass to baby..just do your routine sugar check-up and take proper diet..

Gestational diabetes does not cause diabetes in the baby. It can result in the baby gaining excess weight during pregnancy and also having difficulty in processing sugar post birth. To monitor this the baby is kept under observation to ensure that the baby does not experience fluctuations in sugar levels. Relax.

Hi Aradhana! i had it in my pregnancy. My baby was in the icu so that doctors could detect. He did not and now at 4 years he does not have any diabetes. Overall especially for YOU please take care of your diet and keep getting your sugar tested
