;If your mama slept you on your belly in a crib full of blankets you’re not alone! A lot has changed in the last generation in terms of evidence based practice for safe infant care! Sometimes, this can lead to a clash between parents and grandparents. I believe our parents did the best they could with the information they had at the time. Most would not have been trying to be dangerous... keeping that in mind helps me to be much more gracious in how I talk with them about what we do differently now. I also believe that they want my babies to be safe, too. We all have the same or similar big picture goals, even if our route to get there might look a little different. It’s ok to hold your ground about matters of safety for your baby. You can speak kindly and respectfully without compromising what’s important to you as a parent! How did you respond when a loved one said something like this to you? If these responses are helpful, remember to save them so that you have easy access in the future!
