Im on my maternity leave. When i return to work my same role may not be available. Also i was due for a promotion. How do i negotiate and on returning what should i do? Take what they give or how is it?

Even though this is an old post, I would say that it is always a good idea to start a conversation with HR, about your role upon return to work. There are many pros of this - it will tell them that you are thinking of work, it will keep you in their mind when any promotion or development planning is being done in your absence and help you secure a role of your choice.

Hey don't stress yourself with this. Just enjoy this phase. <br> If later they don't give you the deserving seat than request them, negotiate with them till you are comfortable. You never know what future holds so don't stress your present. They might give you the best role.

As per Indian corporate scenario you will have to compromise but why settle without a fight? Negotiate with ur direct reporting manager because the hr will just follow his instructions. We mom's have to set example for kids. So if it's injustice then Fight. Good luck.
