In earlier times people considered giving cow's milk to children more beneficial and now even doctors forbid giving milk of any animal before 1 year. Why so? Anyone have any information? And if the mother is unable to breastfeed her baby, is it okay to give formula milk?

Cows milk contains high amounts of protein and minerals. So Infants can not digest cows milk as easily or completely as they can breast milk or formula.<br>
Yes, you can give formula milk after your doctor suggestion. Prebiotics rich formula milk is closer to mother milk.

Cow milk giving early before 1 yr of age can cause food allergies. The baby`s stomach is sensitive and digestion of cow milk is a little heavy for the baby. Apart from that cow milk if not suited well for the baby can cause allergies which may leave a long term effect on the child`s health. Its proven in many research papers across the global to consider standard age for introduction of milk to be above the age of 1 yr. But many Indian parenting scenario stories are different. We always have to look for foods to increase breastmilk Foods to increase Breastmilkoods are considered in boosting a mother's milk supply: - Methi seeds - Fennel seeds (saunf) - Garlic - Green leafy vegetables like spinach, methi, sarso saag, dill - Cumin seeds (jeera) - Gourds like lauki, tori, tinda - Lentils especially red masoor dal - Nuts like almonds and cashew Most importantly do drink 8-10 glasses of water. Formula milk can be avoided till the mothers is able to feed her child well. Breastfeeding is a natuarl source to help health to be improved/. I hope this helps ..
