Being modest begins with how you see yourself and your place in the world. Children need to be taught about modesty and as mothers it is our duty to teach modesty in our daughters especially and try instilling the importance of it since the very beginning. how do we do that?
Here are 5 steps to get you started. 1. The best time to start talking to your daughter about modesty is now, no matter what her age is. 2. Make sure she understands the importance of modesty. 3. Boost your daughter's self-esteem. 4. Replace negative influences with positive influences. 5. Tell her to be fashionable as well as modest in dressing ( Show her that she doesn’t have to sacrifice style to be modest) 6. Take her along for shopping, let her see and learn from you (for example the way you choose dresses for her from an early age..she will understand how to dress up by the age of 5-6 years)
My daughter is just three years old and I feel it’s too early to make her understand what modesty is..but she sees me shopping for her and tries to pick clothes that are her type..which means the way I dress her up.. long tshirts, frocks, jeans that is ankle length etc to name a few.
I would end it by saying.. modesty isn’t all about how you dress up..modesty is being humble and not being extreme. Teaching these simple yet effective tips through your actions really helps them in growing modest and simple!
