question
#InquisitiveToddlers
What are some of those awkward questions you get from toddlers and you don't know how to respond? Once my daughter caught me with a sanitary pad and I had to tell her it's mumma's diaper. Do you think I should ave just been open and told her what it is ? Why hide or hiding at this age is good? I am confused!

Dear friend,
So I have introduced it very gradually and gave enough information for her age. So when my bub saw me with sanitary napkins, (age 1.5yrs approx) she asked "are these Mumma diapers"? As she grew up, (age 3 yrs) I started using the word "pad". She had once seen a used napkin and I explained her how our body releases toxins that are not required, same way here too body releases what is not required anymore and this happens regularly. This was at age 4 yrs. I had also told her all women get this and it's very normal and natural, even she will get it eventually when she grows up.
Now that she is 7 yrs old, I explained that every month, our body is preparing for a baby and if there is no baby, then the body releases these just like potty, susu etc.
So you can do it gradually as per the child's understanding.
I did not hide but also I did not change openly. I have kept it very casual. Even if I get cramps, I make sure to tell her, not all women get cramps/pain. I don't want her growing up fearing menstrual cycle.

You don't need to hide things from them, if you think its the right age to tell them truth then go ahead without any confusion.
