Is it okay for a one week old child to wake up only for feed/potty cleaning and then sleep for the whole day?? Also she takes about an hour long feeds and then sleeps for 2 hrs at a stretch...is it normal? Don't kids normally wake up and open their eyes to play or see things around?
Its normal. Since new borns are new to world and its pollution, after birth they do develop rashes however check with the doctor if it' the severe one. New born babies should be feed every two hours and yes feeding session lasts for 1 to 1 and half hour for new born babies. If her pee count is 6+ and she is feeding actively i dont think so the baby is weak. For jaundice you should expose the baby under sun between 7 to 8 for 10 mins and feed the baby every two hours. My baby too kept for phototherapy for jaundice. She is just 1 week old baby and such babies pee poop fart and sleep. Kindly read everyday tips of babychakra you wil learn wat you expect baby to do in 1 week in 2nd, 3rd .... etc etc. To conclude check with dr. If rashes are severe and if baby is not taking feed properly. Do oil massage only before bath to limit the rashes. Always keep track on baby growth.

My baby was born last Wednesday and I came home 2 days back...she had jaundice and was kept in phototherapy... After which she had developed allergic rashes.... So was a bit worried if she s weak... lacking energy or what....
