Breastmilk is made up of a whey: casein ratio much higher than infant formula.
The whey is much easier for babies to digest and often causes them to have a nappy explosion during or immediately after a breastfeed.💩 This ensures exclusively breastfed babies rarely suffer from constipation. Newborn babies recieve colostrum from the lactating parent, almost 90% of the protein coming from whey! This colostrum is concentrated with all the nutrition they need to small amounts fill the tiny baby tummy, however, they also empty quicker so may feed more often than a formula feeding peer.
Regular feeding is biologically normal and helps to promote good appetite control, protect against SIDS and promote bonding.
It also boosts milk supply, so watch out for early feeding cues in your newborn and don't be afraid to feed often. Nappies help to assess babies are getting enough, so watch out for nappies increasing daily - up to 6 wet and dirty by day 6. And speak to a breastfeeding specialist or your midwife if your baby is not pooing and peeing regularly. 🤱 #breastfeeding ;#breastfeedingsupport;

What if the mom could not breastfeed the newborn for almost 1 week? How to make up that?
