***Lets talk Morning Sickness***

Vomiting and nausea during the first trimester of pregnancy is not new. As per a study around 75% of pregnant ladies suffer from morning sickness. I always feel this term "Morning Sickness" is little misleading. Symptoms like vomiting, acidity can happen anytime during the day for a pregnant woman. For some it gets fine after the first trimester. However, for some ladies, it lasts till their delivery. Pregnancy is a beautiful journey. But these early morning issues create not-so-good time for many of the expecting mother.

Morning Sickness can be as simple as feeling sick to your stomach. Or, it can be worse, like throwing up many times a day. I used to throw up right after getting up in the morning, but rest of my day used to go all fine. Basically for each woman symptoms can be different.

As a Google lover, I read a lot during that time so as to get rid of my morning sickness. I also asked my mother and other elderly ladies about home remedies that they had followed. Eventually I realized eating right after getting up and a brisk walk, gave me that much needed relief.
Here are some of the tips that can help if you are experiencing morning sickness theses days:

1. No matter what type of morning sickness you have (morning/ evening/whole day), taking proper rest is first and farmost the best way to ease yourself.

2. Avoid smells or food that you don't like these days. The sense of smell gets more sensitive during pregnancy. And some smells cause you get sick, so keep a distance from them. This is strange though.

3. Morning Sickness gets worse if you are empty stomach. So, eat something before you come out of the bed. Place some snacks/fruits next to your bed and grab them up as you get up.

4. If you can, try to get some fresh air after getting up. Take a cup of ginger tea and sit for some time in your balcony or garden. It helps.

5. While facing morning sickness, many times mouth gets sour. This stimulates more vomiting. As you are done with the first vomiting/nausea attack, immediately do brush with a mint toothpaste. If you go out during the day, keep a mint flavoured mouth wash with you. Whenever you feel like vomiting, do a quick gargle with it. It really gives a fresh feel.

6. Excessive vomiting also causes dehydration. And some times having any solid food makes feeling of sickness worse. Hence increase your liquid intake. Coconut water is the best way to start your day. Then you can also take fruit infused water, herbal teas in plain water and home made lemon water.

Don't let your morning sickness win over you. Stay positive and start your day with meditation and listening soft and good music. Please remember all theses unpleasant symptoms will end eventually, and you will be rewarded with a beautiful bundle of joy!
Happy pregnancy!
