Low Haemoglobin levels is a very normal part of pregnancy and of course we have to take our iron pills for the same. But remember that Haemoglobin is actually two parts haem which is iron and globulin which is protein. If you were to only take iron rich foods and iron pills that will not increase your Haemoglobin. What you need is also protein rich diet. So include high quality proteins in your daily diet atleast three to four times mer day.
Some suggestions for vegetarians are dals, chole, rajma, vatana, sprouts, soy, nuts, seeds etc.
Non - vegetarians should include egg whites, lean meat, fresh water fish etc in their diet.
In addition milk products and whole grains can also give you small doses of protein.
And finally the most important fact about protein - It is the building block of cells and hence leads to optimum brain development for the baby.
