Soak 1 cup rice over night, clean and grind it in a mixer. Take a thick bottemed pan, heat oil add mustard, urad dal, curry leaves red chilli pcs and coconut pieces . Add the ground batter, add salt and keep stirring. It will form into thick consistency without any lump.
Now keep the idly steamer ready with little water in the bottom n idly plate oiled. Take modak batter and press it with your fist and place it on the idly mould and steam it for 10 mins. Spicy modak is ready and we call modak in Tamil as "Kozhukattai".
