MEGAMIND raises the important question if one can continue to exist without the other. Does a villain have value in the absence of a hero? It also quickly & subtly runs us through the harsh truth of how a child gets bred if it were placed in two utterly opposing parental environments. Though Megamind does not possess a radical story, it has some splendid visuals, a lot of spark & a few pleasant twists. A delicately deep theme, it seemed the target audience was the preteens, but younger kids too can have an enjoyable time.
Supreme power entirely in one’s hands – how he can use or abuse it, how it can corrupt or uncorrupt him – it’s hard to squeeze this concept into a kid’s movie, but Dreamworks does it effortlessly.
PLAYING on Zee Studio @ 7pm this Sunday [11-Jun].
