❤️Baby Shower ( Dohale Jevan)❤️
*; All a wanted to share about my DOHALE JEVAN a Maharashtrian tradition equivalent to BABY SHOWER.
*; So why exactly we celebrate DOHALE JEVAN ???🤔.. it literally meant to satisfy the food cravings of pregnant women (though pregnant lady dont need any function to satisfy her cravings, she satisfy it all over her pregnancy😜)
* Usually this is celebrated during seventh month at in laws place n in ninth month at mom's place (but my in laws were not at all interested so we organised it at my mom's place only🤨... Actually they are of the thinking ki everything about daughter first pregnancy n delivery should be handled by her parent even they were asking my hubby to not spend a penny on me🤐 but yhank god he is so sorted person n he knows his responsibilities 😘).
* Here mother-to-be is made to wear everything GREEN like green saree, green bangles , green hair band etc. And adorned with flowers from head to toes.
* The pregnant woman sits a swing (palana) during the celebration.( As I was still getting used to my constantly changing centre of gravity, I was a bit nervous at the prospect of sitting on a swing. I was “over the moon” when I saw the decorations)
* There were seven type of sweets covered by "puri" and mommy to be have to open the one to discover the gender of baby( though its illegal in our country to discover the gender but common its just for fun🤗) i opened "chamcham" which means " its girl" n see its predicted true na... ( Second pic is of seven sweets covered with puri).( And yes how can i forget to mention that all those seven sweets were finished by me😜 after the ceremony)
* Women folk regale 🤰 pregnant lady by singing soothing songs ( offcourse they sung marathi one) though i was not enjoying that much but i think baby was enjoying that bcoz she was kicking continuously at the time😋.
* At the end gift session starts with lot of blessings though the main focuse of a baby shower is to help the mother prepare for the arrival of her baby by purchasing items for the baby. But as we know it’s considered bad luck to buy things for a baby before babybirth , so received gifts like jewellery, clothes, dried fruit but not a single thing for baby. ( But i brought every needed thing for my baby before her birth only)😍
