We live in deeds and not in years
Every year we celebrate our birthdays with cakes, pastries, chocolates and a big treat. We are surrounded with downpour of wishes on phones, facebook, whatsapp, etc. and our near and dear ones make it more special day for us. Ironically, we decrease our span of life by one year on our birthday. Gradually we move towards our oldage that takes us to the end of our life.
Throughout our life we struggle to gain name and fame. For that, we toil and moil each day. We make sure that we score cent percent marks in each exam of life. But, what about our deeds? Are we following the value education provided by our ancestors? Deeds (Karma) as the name suggests is the essence of our birth as humans. Deeds can be Good or Bad and depending upon the type of deeds we face the consequences for our soul.
Good deeds may be done by any one in any walk of life; by the soldier in barracks or on the battle-field, by the woman in the home, the nurse in the hospital, the business-man in his office, the boy at school, or the inventor in the work ship.
The actual performance of a good deed adds to the happiness both of the doer and of those for whom it is done. The memory of a good deed excites love and gratitude, renews man’s belief in his kind, and inspires others to go and do likewise. It is an incentive to them to live purely, act uprightly, and deal justly with their fellow- men. The source of good deeds is self-sacrifice. These good deeds would surely take one to the doors of heaven as per each religion. Each religion prevailing in the world agrees on one common point that one soul has to keep collecting good deeds in his bag until he is alive in order to get entry into heaven and attain nirvana.
Bad deeds like stealing, cheating, fraud, lies, burglary, murder, killings, misdoings, jealousy, hatred etc would undoubtedly end up in hell. Due to these kinds of deeds at times we feel that our world today has became the reflection of hell.
Many religions believe that our life cycle depends upon our deeds and not years. A person who is polite and pious in his entire life span is sure to become a divine soul. Celebrating Birthdays and days won’t help us to gain a place in heaven. We have to pay a heavy price of Good deeds throughout our life in order to grab a seat in heaven.

One way to try and make people realize the value of good deeds is coming up with writing and circulating such posts/articles. Lil by lil wherever it reaches, it will impact the mind. Life is but a very small part of out entire lifecycle as mortals. Thanks for writing this. It sure will serve as reminder. As humans we need constant reminders to be good and to remember that this is not our final place and that we only leave this place with our deeds and nothing else.
