We have heard millions of times these things that you shouldn't give the baby salt and sugar till one year.
WHY?
Salt is basically a chemical compound sodium chloride and our body needs it, but in very small amount.
Excessive minerals are filtered away; kidneys. More salt is harmful for everyone but baby's kidney and digestive system are not fully develope, so it's recommended not to use salt and sugar till the system gets developed.
Will baby eat bland food?
We can't eat bland food because we know the taste of food with salt and sugar.
If were not eating this then there is no chance of getting the taste different than actual flavor of the food.
Baby doesn't know the taste of salt and sugar until you give them. So there is no possibility of them missing the taste.
What are the alternative for sugar? All the fruits contains a bit of sugar and are sweet in taste. So if you are giving fruit purees then its enough for baby that too after 6 months. You can use jaggery as a sweetener if baby is not interested in bland food. Palm sugar is a better and healthy alternative to sugar.
Honey can be used as a sweetener after 1 year.
Adding a bit of cardmom powder also gives the sweetness to the food.
Maple syrup and brown rice syrup are the good alternative for Children younger than 1 YO. But I don't think it's easily available t to get.
