#mommytakeover Post 2 " To become mature, wise and old in life you have to be young and stupid first"".. I seriously believe in this!!..do you?.. Good time flies fast and while my mostly leisure filled, little irresponsible and masti filled childhood days were still on... I with my gang of cousins was now standing at the anvil of jawaani deewani!! Aiwai Wala excitement about future life...thoda tension bhi...and the most prominent question popping now and then from everyone ki, " beta Kya banoge, Kya karna hai aagey"?.. It was the year1998 and after being a topper in 11th and 12th science, in school,; I had topped my CBSE boards and was on a high in life..one of my cousins was already a doctor and somehow doctor and engineer were the only 2 professions that everyone could think off those days....yaar maths to apney zyada bas ki thee nahi so I happily started preparing for medicals..side by side did B.Sc. too.. But they say naa ki zyada shaanti toofan ka andesha deti hai and while I was midway through my preparations and going strong, I fell ill... I still remember it was 26th January, 1999 and starting with a minor throat infection hai...to intrusive diagnostic tests, I was diagnosed with a lymoh node Tuberculosis (unheard off and rare) on both sides of my throat. 2 surgeries, 3 months of super painful dressing and treatment for a year broke me and my parents completely. I saw my now old grandma suffering a lot but standing by my side. I saw my mom going in depression and my dad handling me, his business somehow and home front too. My sister broke her wrist and so we 3 in the family (me, mom and sister) were sick... Thankfully at that time, our joint family and even extended family supported us a lot..my aunt's cooked meals whenever they could, uncle's supported dad emotionally and my doctor cousin and her neurosurgeon husband provided lots of medical help... even a lot of puja - paath was done..by end of 1999, I was a first year B.Sc. drop out. I had somehow managed to qualify one medical exam but couldn't attend the counseling as had stiches from the second surgery. I now weighed about 75 kgs with most of my hair cut unevenly, due to bandaging and stiches and was in a very bad shape. I didn't want to study.. didnt want to meet anyone and was just hiding in a cocoon... also till day I regret that I missed watching movies like kuch kuch hota hai...jo ab bhi nahi dekhi hai!! Jokes apart, life had treated me not with only lemons but vinegar and chat masala too mixed in it and I had given up on everything. My parents, sister, cousins, granny, even Naani tried to bring me out from that mode but I refused. Frustrated with my attitude, one day my dad badly insulted and scolded me and that was the day I started a new chapter of my life?..but on the premise that it won't be anything related to medical or hospital's as by now I was too scared of them..yaar almost 100 injections, and half year ke drip treatment ke baad kis Mai ke laal ki himmat hoti hai?..Meri to nai thi!! Par "Chaah hai to raah hai"...and I found my rah in preparing for MBA. Thoda short cut type option tha...magar ab jo karna thaa jaldi karna that mujhe!!...My dad was not convinced and still wanted me to do medical only, but agreed because he wanted me to get involved in something.....may be even for time pass!!..he had clearly stated that if I manage to crack CAT and get a renowned college only then, he will even think about it!!.. Challenge accepted and this time pass turned out to be serious business for me...I cracked it and presented him with options which he couldn't refuse?..he even brought a B. Ed. And M.Sc. form for me so that I don't go away from home and family,; but it was my destiny...I sold both forms to my friends in my colony and Ahmedabad was waiting for me!!... So, dear friends it was you who decided what you wanted to do in life?...or was it someone else (parents) or was it your; destiny?..what was it!!
