Going back in time when Avyaan was about 10 months old, the only thing I had in my mind was when will I get that proper 8 hrs of sleep again. This is because once the baby “pops” out most mothers are “sleep deprived”, except the Lucky few.
You know when I was pregnant many #mothers told me that sleep as much as you want to know, later when the baby is out you will not be able to sleep. I didn't know what they were trying to say and I just laughed. But even if I knew what they meant, would I be able to catch up on my “1 year” of being sleep deprived during my pregnancy. Practically not possible. Right?
This journey was a very difficult one for my entire 1 year. Avyaan use to sleep very less, be it day or night. Especially, in the night he used to get up 3-4 times to take feed & I used to be like “when will I get that 8 hrs of sleep”!
When you are a sleep deprived mother:
1. You are always tired
2. Just want to sleep all time
3. Feel frustrated
4. Can’t do any activity properly
5. Managing the house and baby seems to be a big task.
To curb all of the above I had to wait for 1 whole year (1 year mark because after that I had decided to wean off my child from breast milk.) That’s a very long time. But the following points kept me going.
They are as follows:
- stay calm it’s just a phase & will pass by.
- I need to be strong for myself & my baby.
- My strongest support system my husband is by my side all the time. So share responsibilities& ask for help then everything will be manageable.
This worked the best for me & finally after 1 year I easily weaned off Avyaan from breast milk & started getting back my 8 hours of sleep.
“No one said this journey of #motherhood would be easy but worth living it.”
