Mother to a week old baby. I'm confused with the feeding time plz help someone.
Things what I have heard -
1) feed him every 2 to 2.5 hours even if u have to wake him up.
2) sleep is also imp so don't wake him feed when he wakes up.
3) my paed said wake him if he doesn't get up till 3.5 to 4 hours but if he is asleep don't wake him.
M breastfeeding earlier would wake him every 2 hours (duration if feeds was 15 to 20mins). After meeting g pass not waking him up till 3.5 to 4hrs (duration if feed 30 to 50mins) Plz help me m worried whether his weight gain will be affected. Birth wt 2.8kg. lost in first week to 2.6kg. n last week at first paed visit was 2.7kg. this Sunday have to check his weight again n the doc expects he should reach his birthweight or cross it.

As baby is week old, baby sleeps alot as dr said if baby sleeps at a stretch of 4 hrs pls wake him up and feed ( as i use do it this way he use to sleep alot).while feeding they sleep wake himup by tickling behind ears or on his feet. Breastfeeding is very much imp at initial period coz it stimulates ur milk production so nurse him frequently and both side.burp baby after every feed. Baby vl b full and sleep "aaram se " and yes initially they loose weight after a week or 2 they regain it.
Be positive and nurse him frequently keep urslf hydrated and have healthy diet.Enjoy the phase!!

Breastfeeding... As per demand.. no fixed time, when baby is awake. Breastfeeding both sides. Baby might tend to sleep while feeding,so try to keep awake while feeding. After burping you baby let him sleep. While baby can sleep at stretch of four hours.. let it be.. don't disturb, then feed your baby. Gradually you will understand your baby's need. Trust your instincts.

feed your baby in 2-3 hours of gap during day if needed tickle his feet for wake him up but at night you should not wake him up for feeding.. at night feeding should be on demand. ..
actually frequent feeding helps to stimulate your milk production during first few weeks..by 1-2 months of age baby nurses 7-9 times a day. .as new borns get older they nurses less..
And yeah don't worry about weight bcoz babies lose weight during first few days of life but usually regains the weight by one week or 10days..they r back to their original birth weight.. .
