my 2 years 2 months old son only speaks words like 'mama ,baba ,dada, nana...etc' .else everything he explain us with his action. and when i ask him to say words like name of body parts , colors, numbers etc... he just ignore it and went back to play...so my ques is this normal with some children or do i need to see speech therapist..coz i hv seen kids of same age speaking more clear and proper words.
Some kids do start speaking a little late. As he is able to understand and communicate the concern is not very high. However it is best to discuss this with the doctor. At home please speak to the child and also look at reading to the child. do not force him to perform by repeating words after you. Just engage him in regular talk.
