My 6 months baby just doesn't sleep, and I m not exaggerating trust me. From birth itself he takes just cat naps of 30 mins or 45 mins during day time. At least earlier he used to sleep in the night for a 4 hrs stretch and get up for feed and go back to sleep again. From last 15 days he hardly sleeps for more than an hour. Wakes up, takes a feed for 5 mins and goes back to sleep. Health wise he is ok. I don't know y he stopped sleeping all of a sudden. I don't lie down n feed. I sit and feed him, burp him and then put him to bed. Can anyone help me Plz. I m a very very sleep deprived mom also taking care of my 4 yr old. Thanks

A baby will have a changing sleep pattern especially at the time of approaching a milestone or teething. Six months is quite close to the teething stage. Try and not put your baby to sleep at the breast. What I mean is break the habit of needing to feed every time he wakes up at night. This is where your husband can help by walking up and patting or calming the baby.

Thankfully I have a very very hands on husband n father who does make sure I get to sleep whenever possible or if he sees I m too tired. Just wanted to see if this sleep pattern is ok cos my elder one never ever troubled me. She had an awesome sleep schedule from the time she was 2.5 months old.

dear Mansi , u have a cat napper. ur baby needs to be taught how to get back to sleep on his own . we all wake up many times but fall.back to sleep easily . babies need to learn how to stretch.their sleep .when ur baby take a nap 30 min try to not pick him up when he wakes immediately . try to lie him down for 10 min more consistenttly increasy the minutes the baby will understand that sleep time is not yet over . practice enough

your situation is quite understandable as I am going through the same rather did go through this very situation. I learnt that we can't do much except getting a good support through words. all I got from my friends is these words as many mom's having 2 children go through this atleast till the baby is an year old. I take a good 1/2 hour to sometimes an hour nap when my younger one is sleeping as that is the only time we get for ourselves as we need that personal space and rest. so be calm and manage as it is now. not to let you down but yes nothing much can be done. I just used another small technique is kept cotton to my son's ears when in sleep so that he doesn't get up for a few sounds and sleeps more than an hour.
