My baby is increasing his height (22.5") rapidly but not gaining enough weight and thus becoming more skinnier.; My hubby is very tall and healthy i m also slightly overweight so genetically my baby should gain more. But my baby is a lazy eater. Whenever i try to feed him he falls asleep before finishing his bottle. I feed him formula and breast milk both. I get anxious when i try to exclusively breastfeed him because he falls asleep after 10 mins of feeding every time. Whenever i m bottle feeding atleast i get to see how much he is getting. But during breast feeding i have really no clue how much he is getting.

Hi. I know what if feels like when Ur baby doesn't gain weight. My paediatrician says anywhere between 20-30grams per day as weight gain is extremely normal. If you and your husband have a leaner structure it is more likely that your baby will be lean too. Just don't go by weight. Pls also look at the height of the baby as well.

Hi Anon,is your baby exclusively breastfed? Please review it with your pediatrician,the charts are mere averages,so just relax if your baby has otherwise met most of the milestones,is active and has good (6-7) in 24 hrs pee count. My lo is 3 months old and she weighs only 4 kgs. Birth weight was 2.7kgs. I too freak out at times thinking her weight gain is too slow but then my pedia said that i shouldnt worry about her weight gain. perhaps,its also a matter if genes too,she is my hubys cc,and my huby is on the leaner side,so see for all these cues and if this doesnt settle your motherly brain (which often doesnt settle), please do get in touch with ur doc.
