my baby is 6 months , I want to start giving him fruits also along with bm, formula , rice and dal water , and gradually porridge etc...please suggest some finger foods for him, kindly also tell me if baby is having cough issues should I avoid banana and apple ??

At six months you can start with mashed foods. Finger foods can be given when baby is able to sit unsupported. Banana is to be avoided if your baby has chest congestion else there is no issue

The age of the baby - here we would aim for the corrected age.<br> 2. The readiness of the baby - if the baby is able to sit supported, if the baby is drooling, if the baby is showing a keen interest in your food then we say the baby is showing readiness.<br> 3. The weight of the baby - if the weight gain is steady then we can wait to start solids however if the weight is in a plateau we would consider starting solids a little early.<br> 4. Maternal needs - At times moms need to return to work or are exhausted or stressed and it is better for their well being to start some solids. The decision would be based on all above factors as a combination. I would recommend consulting with a child nutrition specialist to help you reach a solution and then plan age appropriate foods as a step by step weaning plan.

start with fruits like chikoo, banana, Apple puree, Apple juice.

you can give banana and apple but in small quantity. start with only one teaspoon. but don't change food daily. one fruit once a day. you can give same fruit first three days then check your baby is comfortable with that food or fruit. after that you can change. first week only one meal a day. after a week twice a day. slowly you increase the meal. but keep in mind never give meal at night or evening. preferably lunch time.
