My baby's annaprashan ie baby's first rice eating ceremony.In Kerala we call it as choroonu .
; ;My little boy's annaprashan was held at khambal pada aayyappan temple in dombivili MIDC Mumbai.on 24th of April 2013,when he crossed 5 th month
; ; ; ;Annaprashan is a ritual where a new born baby is offered Annam(rice) For the first time in his life other than breast milk.
; ; ; As per the Kerala traditiona or ritual the infant is dressed in a kasavu mundu(cream coloured dhothi with golden border),made to sit in the lap of his grandfather and offered many offerings like chandanam tulsi leaves flowers by the priest of the temple.
; ; ; ;Priest would offer a bit of rice preferably brown rice,salt a sweet porridge made of jaggery ghee and rice; known as payasam and banana by whispering a his name three times .Then a mother is asked to give same to the baby followed by relatives and friends.on that day he was very happy as he has tasted these food; items for the first time and was smacking his lips.
