My birth story
.
.
I tremble as I start penning this down..but why you must be wondering? It isn’t easy to talk about one’s birth story as simple as that. People might just think everyone goes through this so it’s nothing new. You’ll meet women who gave birth differently, some gave birth in an hour, some who had prolonged labour and some who went under the knife. Most of them wanted me to share my birth story and it took me a month to gather myself & pen this down. Until pregnancy you’re in your utmost comfort zone, few mothers go through complications too but mine was just normal. Until ninth month I could sleep good, eat well and had no false labour pains too.

.
I was assured by my doctor from the beginning of my pregnancy that I’d deliver my baby normally. Because it went on normally throughout even I thought I will definitely deliver my baby by a vaginal birth only. 40 weeks went by and I had no sign of labour pains, I was worried. People kept asking ‘still pregnant’, ‘any good news yet?’ I knew people were just excited for us but I couldn’t help feeling like a bit of a freak show. I was in my 41st week, crossing the full term by now yet no pains. I was due on 24th January and that date just went by being at home. I called my doctor and she quickly told me to come to the hospital. I was scared, I got admitted. I was induced thrice through different painful methods yet I had no pains. Somehow my water broke, I started bleeding and there were blood clots in it, being an engineer by profession I knew nothing. It looked like a complication to the doc hence I went under the knife to bring my girl to life.

Doctor said it doesn’t look like we can wait for you to go in labour, as the baby has cord around the neck, no signs of labour. I looked at my doctor and my husband. She straight away told me we have to do your c section..and I was in trauma listening to that. I got freezed. I wasn’t moving. I got in the operation theatre just in half an hour after our conversation with doctor. Imagine the state of my mind..I regret I didn’t took any childbirth preparation classes or acquired any knowledge regarding what to do and what not to. Although I knew many things as internet was the only source that made everything seem easy.
.
.
Within 6-7 minutes I heard my baby crying I was partially conscious. Doctor asked me guess whether it’s a girl or a boy? I knew it was and is a girl from the very beginning. You know mom’s instinct..yeah I replied ‘It’s a girl!’.

C-section experience shall be shared soon.
