I went to Thane municipal corporation today. Process so far 1. You go to a counter where a person checks if details from hospital are available in their system<br> 2. If it is available, you are given two one page forms. Name of child and parents are to be filled in English and Marathi<br> 3. You go back in line and submit the forms and a copy of Aadhaar of both parents and copy of hospital discharge report. Forms are checked and the child's name is entered in a system by the officer in front of you. You are then asked to check spelling. A soft copy of the birth certificate is shown to you on the screen and you have to intimate any errors to the officer who corrects it live. The officer submits the form<br> 4. You then go to another counter and pay a fees of Rs. 40. You get a receipt with collection date and time. My receipt says my daughter's certificate will be available between 3-5pm on Monday (I submitted forms on Thursday) I asked about extra copies. They said that I will get 3 copies on Monday. I can the apply for extra copies after 15 days Entire process took about 1.5 hours. Office opened at 10 but by the time all officers came and started systems it was 10:30. I was done by 11:30 Parents are not required in person but it's better a parent or someone responsible goes for the first time as name and other details have to be checked. I plan to send somebody else to collect 3 copies and the extra copies to avoid leaves
