National Safe Motherhood Day Is observed every year on April 11 as a day to raise awareness about adequate access to care during pregnancy, childbirth, and postnatal period.
Safe motherhood" means maternal services provided to women during antenatal, delivery and post-partum periods, in accordance with this Act. The basic objectives of the Mother-Baby Package are neither new nor controversial — they are considered the 'four pillars' of Safe Motherhood: (1) Family planning — to ensure that individuals and couples have the information and services to plan and space pregnancies;
